Bonfresh Pte Ltd, a subsidiary
company of Bonvests Holdings Limited, is the authorised licensee of
Orange Julius® for Singapore since 1999 with the opening of two
stores at Tampines Mall and NTUC Lifestyle World - Downtown East on
18th December 1999. Located primarily in high traffic shopping centres
and malls, the Orange Julius® stores serve cool and refreshing
blended fruit beverages with a line of gourmet hot dogs and nachos.
To maximise the opportunity in high traffic mall environment, where
space is at a premium, Bonfresh acquired the rights for Dairy Queen®
in Singapore and opened the first store with a 'Treat Centre"
concept at Thomson Plaza on 14th December 2001. This concept combines
the best of the product lines from "Dairy Queen" and "Orange
Julius" with each brand being famous for both its food and
treat menu.
About Orange Julius®
In
1926, Julius Freed wanted to open a fresh orange juice
store and together with his real estate broker W.Jas.Hamlin,
who had some background in chemistry, created a delicious
and unusual drink - Julius® Orange Original.
When the drink was first introduced, the response was
tremendous. There was little question of what to call
the new drink sensation because all day long, customers
would say, "Give me an Orange, Julius." And
that was how the name originated - Orange Julius®.
Beside the Julius® Original, other lines of beverage
such as Julius Classic Smoothy™ and Julius Creations™
were also subsequently developed. Complementary food products
have been introduced to broaden product line appeal too.
In 1987, Orange Julius® was purchased by IDQ (International
Dairy Queen) Incorporated, which is now owned by Berkshire
Hathaway led by Warren Buffet. There are currently over
600 Orange Julius® stores worldwide including the
United States, Canada, United Arab Emirates, Puerto Rico,
Korea, Philippines and Singapore.
